Caddyshack

Directed by Harold Ramis and written by Brian Doyle-Murray, Harold Ramis, and Douglas Kenney, Caddyshack (1980) is an iconic sports comedy set at the exclusive Bushwood Country Club. The plot follows a young caddy, Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe), as he tries to earn a scholarship while navigating the eccentricities of the club's wealthy and often ridiculous members.

The film features a legendary comedic ensemble, including Rodney Dangerfield as the obnoxious Al Czervik, Chevy Chase as the Zen-obsessed Ty Webb, and Ted Knight as the high-strung Judge Smails. However, it is perhaps most famous for Bill Murray’s performance as Carl Spackler, a deranged groundskeeper locked in a losing battle against a highly intelligent and destructive gopher.

Locations

Despite being set in the Midwest, the film was shot almost entirely in Florida to ensure consistent weather for the outdoor golfing sequences.

Grande Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Florida

The fictional Bushwood Country Club was primarily filmed at the Rolling Hills Golf Resort (now known as the Grande Oaks Golf Club). The course’s distinctive trees and water hazards are visible throughout the film, though the production famously had to repair the greens after the explosive finale. Map Location

Boca Raton Resort & Club in Florida

The lavish dinner and dance scenes were filmed at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The opulent Mediterranean-style architecture and grand ballrooms provided the perfect backdrop for the stuffy, high-society world that the film so effectively parodies. Map Location

Rusty Pelican in Key Biscayne, Florida

The chaotic boat christening scene, where Al Czervik’s massive yacht wreaks havoc on Judge Smails’ smaller sailing vessel, was filmed in the waters near the Rusty Pelican restaurant in Key Biscayne. Map Location
