Young Guns 2 – Blaze of Glory
Directed by Geoff Murphy and written by John Fusco, Young Guns 2 – Blaze of Glory (1990) is a sequel to Young Guns (1988), picking up with Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) and the surviving Regulators in the years following the Lincoln County War. The film chronicles Billy's increasingly dangerous life as an outlaw, his uneasy relationship with the ambitious lawman Pat Garrett (William Petersen), and his pursuit across the New Mexico Territory. The story is framed by the 1950 claims of an elderly man named Brushy Bill Roberts who insisted he was the real Billy the Kid.
Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Phillips returned alongside Christian Slater and James Coburn. The film's theme song, "Blaze of Glory" by Jon Bon Jovi, became a major hit; Bon Jovi also appeared in a cameo. The production crew included a notable accident when Lou Diamond Phillips was badly injured during filming when a spooked horse threw and dragged him.
Location(s)
Young Guns 2 was filmed across New Mexico and Arizona, using a combination of natural desert landscapes, historic sites, and studio facilities to bring the Billy the Kid legend to life.
New Mexico Locations (Santa Fe area)
Principal photography took place in and around Santa Fe, New Mexico, using many of the same locations and terrain as the original film.
