I Am Legend
Directed by Francis Lawrence and written by Mark Protosevich and Akiva Goldsman, I Am Legend (2007) is a haunting post-apocalyptic survival film set in a desolate New York City. Robert Neville (Will Smith), a brilliant military virologist, appears to be the last human survivor in the city—and perhaps the world—after a man-made virus intended to cure cancer instead wiped out most of humanity.
Accompanied only by his loyal dog, Sam, Neville spends his days scavenging for supplies and broadcasting radio messages in hopes of finding other survivors. By night, he barricades himself against the "Darkseekers," feral, light-sensitive mutants who were once human. Neville's struggle is not just for survival, but for a cure, as he uses his own immune blood to conduct desperate experiments in a race to reverse the extinction of the human race.
