Appearance
Under Siege
Directed by Andrew Davis (who would follow it with The Fugitive the following year), Under Siege (1992) is an action thriller in which former Navy SEAL Casey Ryback (Steven Seagal) — working aboard a US battleship as the ship's cook — is the only man capable of stopping a group of mercenaries and a rogue CIA operative (Tommy Lee Jones) and his partner (Gary Busey) who have seized the vessel and its nuclear arsenal.
The film was made aboard the real Battleship USS Alabama, now a museum ship in Mobile Bay, Alabama, providing an authentically enormous and labyrinthine location for the cat-and-mouse action. The ship's imposing scale — 680 feet long and as tall as a 20-storey building — and its real operational spaces give the film a physical weight that purely studio-bound productions could never match.
Location(s)
Under Siege was filmed almost entirely aboard the Battleship USS Alabama, berthed permanently at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile Bay, Alabama.

The entire film was made aboard the USS Alabama at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama. Launched in 1942, the Iowa-class battleship saw service in the Pacific during World War II before being decommissioned in 1947. The ship, 680 feet long and as tall as a 20-storey building, prepared more than 7,500 meals a day for its crew in service — providing some ironic weight to the premise of a former Navy SEAL disguised as the ship's cook. The park, which also includes a submarine and various aircraft, is open to the public year-round. Map Location
