Unstoppable
Directed by Tony Scott, Unstoppable (2010) is a survival thriller based on a real 2001 incident in Ohio, in which an unmanned runaway freight train carrying hazardous cargo threatened to derail in a populated area. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine star as a veteran engineer and a rookie conductor who attempt to stop the rampaging locomotive using their own train. Rosario Dawson co-stars as the yardmaster desperately trying to coordinate a solution from the operations centre.
Scott's kinetic, visceral filmmaking style — multiple cameras, whip-pans, helicopter shots — transforms the film's real Pennsylvania and Ohio locations into a landscape of industrial menace and working-class heroism.
