Back to the Future
Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale, Back to the Future (1985) is a definitive sci-fi classic. Teenager Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is accidentally sent back from 1985 to 1955 in a plutonium-powered DeLorean time machine built by his friend, the eccentric scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd).
While in 1955, Marty inadvertently interferes with his parents' first meeting, threatening his own existence. He must find the 1955 version of Doc Brown to help him repair the timeline by making his parents fall in love, while also finding a way to harness a bolt of lightning to power the DeLorean back to the future.
Locations
Filmed in and around Los Angeles, the movie utilized a mix of real neighborhoods and studio backlots to create the fictional town of Hill Valley.
Universal Studios Backlot
The iconic Hill Valley Town Square, featuring the famous Courthouse and its clock tower, was a permanent set on the Universal Studios lot in Universal City. The set has been used in numerous films but is most closely associated with the Back to the Future trilogy. Map Location

The exterior and several interior scenes of Hill Valley High School were filmed at Whittier High School. The school's classic architecture served as the setting for both the 1985 and 1955 versions of Marty's school. Map Location
Twin Pines Mall (Puente Hills Mall) in City of Industry
The location where Marty first sees the time machine and escapes from the terrorists is the parking lot of the Puente Hills Mall. In the film, it is famously known as Twin Pines Mall (and later Lone Pine Mall). Map Location

The exterior of Doc Brown's 1955 mansion is the Gamble House, an architectural landmark in Pasadena. The garage next to the house served as Doc's laboratory where the time travel experiments were perfected. Map Location
