Appearance
Zoolander
Written, directed, and produced by Ben Stiller, Zoolander (2001) is a satirical comedy starring Stiller as Derek Zoolander, a dim-witted but good-natured male model who, after being ousted by rival Hansel (Owen Wilson) as the world's top male fashion model, is brainwashed by evil designer Jacobim Mugatu (Will Ferrell) to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Adapted from a pair of short films Stiller created for the VH1 Fashion Awards in 1996 and 1997, the film was shot in New York City, Los Angeles, Yonkers, and Ogdensburg, New Jersey. Images of the World Trade Center were edited out of the film prior to its release on September 28, 2001, just weeks after the September 11 attacks.

The film's infamous "freak gasoline-fight accident" was staged at a vacant lot on the corner of West Broadway and Varrick Street — directly opposite the firehouse made famous by Ghostbusters. Map Location

The climactic and tasteless "Derelicte" fashion show staged by Mugatu was filmed at 26 Broadway, opposite the famous Charging Bull statue in the Financial District. Map Location
Sterling Hill Mining Museum in New Jersey
When a disillusioned Derek returns to his family's "southern New Jersey" coal mining roots, the zinc mine he attempts to work in is the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, northern New Jersey — a real working mine that closed in 1986 and reopened as a museum. Map Location
Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles
