X-Men: First Class

Englefield House, Theale, near Reading, Berkshire
The childhood home and eventual Academy of young Charles Xavier in "Westchester, New York" is Englefield House at Theale, west of Reading in Berkshire. Its gardens — though not the house — are open to the public. The house has also appeared in Disney's Cruella, Match Point, and (providing interiors for Buckingham Palace) in The King's Speech. Erik/Magneto pursues his Nazi tormentor Sebastian Shaw (Kevin Bacon) to "Geneva, Switzerland" — the bank exterior is actually Somerset House on the Strand in central London, instantly recognisable behind its grand courtyard. Map Location
Sheldonian Theatre, Broad Street, Oxford
The Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, the first major design of Sir Christopher Wren (built 1664–1669), doubles as the university where Xavier becomes a professor and is tailed by CIA agent Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne). It has also appeared in The Saint (1997) and stood in for Harvard in Michael Cimino's Heaven's Gate. Map Location

The climactic beach confrontation — set during the Cuban Missile Crisis — was filmed by a second unit on Jekyll Island at the southern tip of Georgia. The island resort was also used in Glory (1989). Map Location
