X-Men
Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men (2000) is the film that established the modern era of Marvel superhero adaptations and demonstrated that comic-book movies could be taken seriously. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen star as Professor Xavier and Magneto, two old friends on opposite sides of a war over mutant rights, while Hugh Jackman announced himself to international audiences as the ferociously reluctant hero Wolverine. The film uses its superhero premise as an allegory for civil rights and discrimination.
Though set in and around New York, the film was made almost entirely in Ontario, Canada. Bryan Singer paved the way for the entire genre of prestige superhero filmmaking.

Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters — Xavier's grand mansion in "Westchester, New York" — is Parkwood Estate, a magnificent early-20th-century mansion in Oshawa, Ontario. The estate, which has appeared in countless productions, is also the home of Norman Osborn's penthouse in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. Map Location
